Cardinham Woods Gains Support From Silverfish UK

Cornwall is a region best known for sun, sea and surf, but with the official opening of Cornwall’s first MTB trail centre the area can now also add cycling to its growing list of attractions and thanks to support from locally based cycle distributor Silverfish UK the newly completed tracks will remain to top condition for years to come.

Check out this great video from the guys at West Coast Mountain Biking of the new trails at Cardinham.

The new development at Cardinham Woods near Bodmin was officially opened on the 8th of May 2013 by Malcolm Bell, head of Visit Cornwall who cut the ribbon on the site which is set to attract thousands of active cyclist to the area each month. Constructed with funding from the Rural Development Programme for England through the South West 1 partnership the new trails have already seen over 30,000 miles cycled on them but thanks to support from Silverfish UK who have come on board to support the trails maintenance they will remain in top condition for visiting riders.

Pete Drew, Managing Director of Silverfish UK, said “We’re very happy to see purpose-built off-road trails of this quality being built on our doorstep in Cornwall and are delighted to be able to sponsor a development of this nature. Having accessible trails available in the area is an amazing asset and we hope our involvement will ensure they remain for visitors for many years to come”.

The trails at Cardinham Woods are now officially open and being enjoyed by riders from both within Cornwall and further afield.

About Cardinham Woods

Now fully open to the public the woods at Cardinham are home to three MTB trails all of which offer a great opportunity to explore the local woodland. The blue graded (moderate) ‘Bodmin Beast’ is 12km of cycle trail which aims to set the benchmark for singletrack in Cornwall. Snaking turns and switchback descents will have riders smiling and working up an appetite ready for a visit to the onsite Woods Café. In addition riders will also find two red grade trails (difficult) which loop off the main ‘Bodmin Beast’ and are ready to test riders skills. Dialled-in Dave is a natural fast flowing trail which will help develop riders skills or why not tackle the steep climb and fast steep descent of ‘Hell’s Teeth’.
