Industry Insights - Aimee Dix

Industry insights is back! We are asking the all important questions to some of the faces that make it tick! Meet Aimee Dix, A technician at Mojo Suspension.

Who is Aimee Dix?

I’m a girl! Haha and I’m a suspension technician at Mojo Suspension in south wales!

Give us an interesting fact about yourself?

I’m Buff? Haha

How long have you been doing your job and how has it changed over the years?

I've been here at Mojo for 5 years and its still keeping me interested so it must be changing! Theres lots of new technology so I guess that always keeping things fresh.

You are stuck in a lift for the next 3 hours, you can pick 3 people to be stuck with you, who would it be and why?

Anne Caroline Chausson as she’s pretty rad! I’d probably pick Chris Porter because he’s quite a good laugh and Fabien Barel… That would be a pretty interesting 3 hours in the lift I guess!

What bike do you ride?

I have an Orange Five which I ride the most but I also have an Orange Clockwork.

26, 650b or 29?

I’m loving the 29” wheels on my Orange Clockwork. I haven’t had it very long though so I haven’t had a chance to really get to grips with it on the tight singletrack but climbing and descending in straight lines its mint. But I think we will see a move to 27.5” though in the next few years.

Tubes or Tubeless?

Tubeless.

Clips or Flats?

Clips

Whats the best thing about working in the cycle industry?

Meeting a load of new and nice people. It never feels like your going to work because its your hobby and work all tied into one I guess!

And the worst?

I don’t think I have an answer for that… There are no bad things!

What’s the Best mountain bike product of all time?

It’s gotta be the 2014 Talas CTD fork. The new Talas system is absolutely amazing. The best ever by a good margain.

And the worst?

Colour matched outer cables… People who match the outers to a little bit of colour on the disk rotors so they have a sea of red cabling coming from the bar. They should always be black!

Whats the best piece of advice anyone’s ever given you?

The faster you hit it the easier its going to be!

And the Worst?

When I was a kid my dad used to always tell me no matter where we were the destination was always “just round the corner” That was always a bad piece of advice as it was never true!

Who’s the most famous/influential person you’ve ever had dealings during your time in the Mountain Bike Industry?

Fabien Barel. When he's visited us at Mojo he's been awesome. The man is a legend!

What will be the next big innovation to take off in the mountain bike industry?

I don’t know really. I don’t really pay attention to much of this kind of stuff in the outside world!

And finally…

In 10 years time what will the average trail centre warriors bike look like?

It'll definitely have a 27.5” wheel. 160mm travel made of Carbon with some good angles and will pedal really well... More of the same I guess!
