Surrey Hills MTB Trails under threat from oil drilling

Spare 4 minutes to watch this compelling film on why the oil drilling on Leith Hill a highly popular mountain bike destination in Surrey mustn’t go ahead!

A short film highlighting the support of the local residents of Dorking and the surrounding towns who are supporting the occupation of the proposed drilling site at Bury Woods on Leith Hill. This site has been chosen by a consortium of oil and gas companies led by Europa and UKOG who are attempting to start drilling the site in the coming weeks having persuaded the government to over rule all local and county council objections to their plans to destroy an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is supposed to be protected by law. This drilling is one of many which is about to begin across the Weald in UK as attempts are made to begin on shore fossil fuel extraction on an industrial scale across the UK.

Want to support the protests?

If you’re riding in the area on 3rd December then head for Leith Hill Tower (the top of the hill) for midday to join other riders as well as those taking part in the Leith Hill Celebration Walk.
