New Bike Park Being Built in Wetherby West Yorkshire

THE DEVIL’S TOENAIL HEATS UP

This is a new bike park being built by the community and volunteers from Wetherby Bike Trails and SingletrAction, working with Wetherby Town Council and Leeds City Council, on a site between two former railway lines, on land known for years, as the Devil’s Toenail.

Last weekend, over 100 people, many of them fantastic youngsters, turned out to scrape, rake, shovel and shape this fantastic cycling facility.

Wetherby’s fire fighters even used the location as a training opportunity, to soak the track. Just like the Little Toe pump track we built on Millennium Field last year, the surface needs water to help the material bind and harden.

Please don’t be selfish and ride the course, as it is not ready yet. If you see people riding it, please let us know or let them know, that they can help to build it and be part of something great.

Our next dig day is this Saturday, July 7, 1000 – 1600. Supervised children welcome. Bring a shovel, rake, gloves if you have them, but please bring your own water, although it’s quite cool in the shade.

Just half an hour means you can shift literally tonnes, so give as much or as little time as you can. If you think you or your family will use this, then please lend a hand.
