Steve Peat and Josh Bryceland have just taken possession of their new SRAM/RockShox equipped Santa Cruz Carbon V-10's with carbon Enve wheels complete with lots of slick team issue products. Next week they will be racing at the second Halo BDS round in Molfre, UK aboard their new steeds, then they will promptly jump on a plane to Pietermaritzburg, South Africa where they will be caught up in a whirlwind of activities leading up to the World Cup season opener. Santa Cruz Syndicate They spent a day building up the new bikes and Steve remarks on the new features of the bike: "I get excited at this time every year! The feeling of surprise as to what the guys in the art department have come up with for our new graphics is great and 2011 is no exception!!! The guys have done a killer job yet again. Good old Dougie "Hatrick" Hatfield stuck most of the bike together and myself and Josh had a bit of fun putting the last bits on to see the whole bike. It then needed to be sent of to Ricky Bobby for a final race prep tune and to tighten all the bolts I had missed….ha, ha. She will be back with me soon for her maiden voyage… can't wait as the whole thing looks awesome." Santa Cruz Syndicate Time lapse of the bike build here: www.freecaster.tv Once the Syndicate lands in South Africa they will head to Pietermaritzburg for a couple of days of photo shoots with Gary "Flipper" Perkin for Santa Cruz, then the True Collection activities start with other True Athletes Cedric Gracia, and extreme mountain skier and base jumper JT Holmes in tow. Greg is eager to see his "Syndicate Family" again and says, "I'm looking forward to being a part of the Syndicate again, and the family reunion is here at my home. There is a lot going on with the True Collection and one of the things I'm really looking forward to is meeting up with JT Holmes to do a parachute drop into the World Cup! The GM/True Athlete fan club has taken some work but is looking very good....exciting times!" Santa Cruz Syndicate True Collection is partnering with Santa Cruz Bicycles and the Syndicate in South Africa to branch out and expose the luxury travel concept of True Collection that mingles the unique concept of holiday destinations combined with top professional athletes for a truly amazing experience. Let's say you wish to holiday at a beach villa in South Africa and have Greg Minnaar ride mountain bikes with you, or hit the links with Paul Casey to show you the greens, True Collection provides this opportunity. http://true-collection.com/index.php Santa Cruz Syndicate Alex Rankin will be filming the Syndicate and the True Athlete antics as they experience the best of South Africa (courtesy of True Collection), and the voice of mountain biking known as Mr. Rob Warner will be there to heckle them all the way. Starting with a dolphin watching tour (okay, the boat goes 80 mph…sound more fun now?), the athletes will then visit Thembini School to present the underprivileged children with books and school materials to make their lives a little bit better. Santa Cruz Syndicate The athletes will then host a meet and greet social bike ride at Holla Skills Track on Sat. April 16th at 7:30 am (if you live anywhere nearby, pop on over and join them!). Then they will head out to Lion's Valley Game Reserve for a 3-day adventure. Getting back into Pietermaritzburg they will have race week practice routines mixed with more promotional media events. Santa Cruz Syndicate On Friday April 22nd there will be a Greg Minnaar & True Athlete Fan Club event where 150 people can purchase their fan packs filled with vuvuzelas, flags, caps and shirts for race day, and have another opportunity to meet these exceptional athletes face to face. The proceeds from the event will go to the Thembini School. (Contact Mark Squire for more info: [email protected]) Amongst all the activities the guys will actually get to test out their new V-10's against the worlds best, but not without a little guest appearance by JT Holmes as he plans to parachute into the downhill venue!
