First Look - One Industries 2014 Line Up

23 September 2013  |

Last week we sent Angus out to the One Industries Europe headquarters for a run down on some of the highlights from the One Bike and 661 ranges for 2014.

Check out this bumper gallery and words outlining some of the must see pieces that we guarantee you’ll see out on the trails over the coming 12 months…

Starting with the One bike range…

The real highlights from the One for 2014 are the new integration of M.I.Ps into the already incredibly popular gamma full face helmet. The super lightweight Vapor downhill specific race kit, the Atom trail kit as well as loads of reworked kit from 2013!

M.I.Ps or Multi-directional Impact Protection System (I can see why they choose to shorten it!) has now been integrated into the Gamma full face helmet. But what does this mean…

Helmets are only tested and effective to impacts in a vertical axis. In the real world crashing on your bike is unpredictable and very, very rarely are you going to find yourself speeding vertically headfirst into the ground like a javelin. The angle that more often than not we crash is far more oblique. On impact our head is subjected to rotational forces that a helmet with M.I.P.s can handle in it’s stride.

From the outside it still looks the same but comes in some super cool new Chrome colourways that will be a trackside photographers nightmare and will set you back £249.99

Chrome proved pretty hard to take a photo of that looked in focus. Looks amazing in the flesh though!

The Gamma is still available in the Chrome colours plus some others without the M.I.P.S system for an RRP of £189.99

The Vapor downhill kit has been redesigned for 2014 and is most definitely not just a motocross pant with cycling features. It’s great that brands like One have taken the time to invest into the downhill market with specific products like this and I think it will really work for them in the long run…

One Industries Vapor

We have already seen the Vapor kit being raced by 3rd place world champs finisher Jared Graves out in Pietermaritzburg. The Jersey is available in 2 colours and both long and short sleeve varieties. The Vapor pants however are only available in long legged versions which seems puzzling when almost everyone riding downhill will opt for shorts in almost all weather.

In the fashion stakes the Vapor kit is bang on the money and it’s also the lightest downhill specific kit on the market today by a country mile so there’s no excuses for it slowing you down!

The Vapor shorts replace the Intel Noise shorts from the 2013 line up as favoured by Dan Atherton on the Enduro scene. They have opted for 3 block colours with the shorts which has in turn made things very mix and matchable across almost the entire range. The black, white and red vapor shorts have an RRP of £94.99 which is at the higher end moneywise for a pair of shorts but these contain all the features that you could require plus more and even include a free liner!

The Gamma Shorts/Pants and Jersey take on a slightly more Moto form but still with some cycling features and colourways that fit sympathetically across the rest of the range!

The Ion and Atom lines are where One have made large strides however in offering more to the affordable end of the trail market with 2 lines of garments that are pretty much interchangeable and we think still look pretty damn good!

The Ion shorts and Jersey cost £74.99 and £44.99 respectively with Ion technical tee’s in block colours for £29.99

The Atom Shorts come in a bit cheaper at £55.00 and still even include a liner! The Atom jerseys are available in both long and ¾ sleeves in too many colours to list or picture!

For me the Ion and Atom line-up complement eachother pretty much perfectly. Simple block colour shorts along with jerseys or technical tee shirt type garments that we can see being a big hit with trail riders.

The bright colours are still alive and well in the One camp with Chartreuse the order of the Day in the Ion lineup

On the glove front there are some cool styles to match the applicable kits which is always good to see! You could grab yourself a pair over on the MoreDirt store while they are hot! http://www.moredirt.com/shop/brands/one-industries/
