Tracy Moseley is World Champion!

Capping off an impressive week for the Trek World Racing program, Tracy Moseley (GBR) wins her first ever World Championship, something she has been aiming to achieve since 1995 as a junior. The 31 year old picked up a silver last year at the Canberra Worlds, her first year on the Trek Session, and this year went that all important one step further to claim the coveted rainbow jersey. Neko Mulally (USA) narrowly missed making it 3 world titles for the team, when he finished 2nd, just 6/100ths from the win. Neko, who is junior again next year, achieved this amazing result despite being out for most of the season due to a broken arm. World Champion Tracy Moseley said: "This season I've not been racing as well as I've been practicing but this morning I just put all those thoughts away and focused on the day. It's been a long time coming and it's awesome to win ˆ it feels absolutely amazing!!" Neko said: "My race was pretty good. I set off quite early because of the way the US team had me ranked, due to being out with an injury. I had a good run and I'm pretty happy with it. I got to the bottom and I had a long wait for the last 3 guys and wasn't sure how they would do. I'm happy, it was a really close race and I was glad to be on the podium". The two medals today were a great finish to a week that saw Mathias Flueckiger (SUI) also win a World Title in Under 23 Men's XC, and Emily Batty (CAN) take 5th in her Under 23 XC race. Lukas Flueckiger (SUI) was set for a great Elite XC race after a perfect start into 5th, but a crash in the technical section cost him a lot of time, and a broken shoe. He managed to finish the event in 17th. In the Men's Downhill Justin Leov (NZL) was 4th at the split, but a surprise crash cost him close to 9 seconds, and a final placing of 14th. Andrew Neethling (RSA) had a solid run but after losing his pedal on a technical section, lost some valuable time trying to re-connect the shoe to the pedal. Team Owner Martin Whiteley said: "This is an amazing way to end a year that saw a lot of highlights for us, as well as some difficult challenges. The congratulations we've received from our competitors mean a lot to us, and we're all stoked to be taking home 2 Golds and a Silver for the team."
