A Nice Surprise

Review:
Was working in Portsmouth so thought I would drop by on the way home after the recent article in MBR.
A great little trail with a good mix of fast Berms and drops and twisty singletrack through the trees at the top.
Was a dry day so the roots were fun, but I bet its a nightmare in the wet.
If you are passing drop in its well worth a visit.
Great coffee and Flapjack in the cafe after the ride to :)
PS I think you should call it the Squirrel Trail (never seen so many of the little ctritters).

Summary:
good trail for keeping the fitness up

Review:
Great short trail for beginner to intermediate, recent works on the trail have really made a difference, new berms and an extended link make for better riding. Work has only been focused on the first third of the trail and will hopefully continue to complete the trail. The trail is very rooty in sections and the new parts still need bedding in. Unfortunately the ground is chalk and clay based and proves a complete nightmare in wet conditions, but fantastic in the dry. Off the designated trail and at the top and back end of the park there is an even better area which makes for a perfect add on between the first half and second half of the circuit, full of twisty downhill trails and nice drop in sections, again only good when dry to semi dry and if you can find it. All in all a great trail for keeping the fitness up and getting out for a short blast, you can make it as short or as long as you want, combining the novice trail in with it ( which actually has some pretty good sections flat out. Not quite worth the travel if your a fair distance, not for the hardcore.
Masses of other trails there, but spoilt by walking only, unless your a real early bird or night rider

Summary:
Big changes are happening

Review:
I am one of the volunteer trail builder at QECP. In the last 6 months we have added 1.5 km and hopefully open a similar ammount by May 19th 2012 for the re launch of the trail as a red graded trail. The new additions compromise of many berms, table tops, jumps and drops. We have done some work on the switchback section which will be continued over the next couple of months and we have started work on adding some switchbacks at the end of the trai. I have added a link to a video of the testing of the first switchback.

I can say in terms of red and black trails there will be many more miles and features added over the next few years and we are looking for funding for a green and blue trail as the current family trail isnt very family friendly in terms of up hills. As reviews have said in winter it can get slippy with the chalk and mud, however if you have a good mud tyre you shouldnt have any problems and the new sections run well. I will warn you now, the area where the mud is worse is on the first climb so dont let that put you off. I would say the trail is 8/10 now but i know what is coming so i will give it a 10 ;-p

In addition to craigwhelan

Review:
Just to add to what craigwhelan said. It is good to see they are making a effort to make the trails more apealling to the more 'advanced' rider. Just a shame the walkers aren't banned!

Overall the trails at QECP are Improving all the time. Hopefully they'll resurface the clay/ chalk as it gets almost unrideable in bad weather.

Summary:
Good for begginers quite short

Review:
Ive now rode this trail twice and i quite like it, its got a good few climbs the switchback section is OK but good do with some work on the flow and the berms be reshaped, the only main criticism i think is how long the trail is, it really doesnt take long to blast roud and could take you about 20 - 30 minutes to complete 1 lap however if you do 3 or 4 then its worth going, ive only rode this trail in the dry so dont know what it is like in mud but im going again soon and it is likely to be wet so i can see the difference.
