Wicked day out on the mountain!
Review:
I did two days over a long weekend and booked the option of an uplift for both days. I would recommend the uplift service to ensure maximum use and enjoyment of doing all the trails! The trails were more challenging than expected which I enjoyed. There really is plenty to offer bikers of all abilities and I most enjoyed the fast sweeping blue runs with smaller table top jumps.
The staff were very friendly and helpful!

BPW is designed by bikers for bikers. It's a bit of a step up from the old skool MTB single track XC - this is faster, knarlier and takes no prisoners.
The blue runs might seem nice long benign sweeping singletrack but it's down the side of a mountain. 30 mph+ no problem - great fun but watch out for the small kickers and brake fade/arm pump as you get near the bottom. The red trails are slightly more technical, usually with rock gardens and some drop off's. Slippery when wet.
Can't comment on black or pro lines but they look immense.
BPW has a fab cafe, shop and bike wash. Parking is free and the whole thing is a stones throw from Merthyr Tydfil. The uplift is ESSENTIAL - get to the top and whoop all the way down - several times.
You don't have to be a bad *ss to ride BPW - I still ride a 26" hardtail but it's not easy. Arm pump is the biggest problem, even on the blues. You get up a lot speed but have to scrub it off as well. Most reds are too technical for me but the blue just go and go. A full-susser or DH bike will eat it up.
Parental warning - knee/elbow pads recommended. Full face helmet STRONGLY advised. I never thought I'd need one but after seeing a bad face plant last year (you rarely land on anything other than your face) I decided to get one this year. It saved me when I needed it. Another rider wasn't so lucky and it was really messy. Get one.
A blue run at BPW is more challenging than any other blue that I have ridden so please respect them. They look straight forward but gravity likes a good fight and you'll lose. It's so much fun but take your time, get used to it and scream your head off!
BPW is truly awesome and I'll be back next year.
