Great In Parts, But Not As Good As It Used to Be
Review:
Rode the Beast on 16/05/08 for the third time in the last year, they're currently doing work on the 'Adams Family' sections, which unfortunately is not making the trails any better. What was once challenging singletrack (the rooty section) has now been surfaced with a smooth finish. It's fast, but no longer technically challenging. It looks like the whole section is going to be finished this way.
Recently revisited this on 07/07/09 and have bumped my mark up by one. The Adams Family sections still aren't as good as the used to be, but the rest of the trail is enjoyable none the less (take some money for the cafe half way round - only open on weekends). The downhill sections have good flow & the odd jump here and there.

Very Average
Review:
Have ridden this trail a couple of times now (most recently 06/07/09).
At present part of the trail is shut due to logging & the detour takes you part way on road, then onto fire road.
On the plus side it had rained pretty heavily in the run up to riding this & it drains well.
There are some enjoyable sections (Pins & Needles, Snap, Crackle, Pop), but there is too much fire road. To top this off just before the final descent you have a long descent via fire road! Nothing worse in my opinion.
Stay on the main trail centre trails which are much better.

Nice long fire rd fun
Review:
Not sure if my review is fair on the place as there were lots of diversion signs and im am really hoping that every last good section was diverted as, out of the 38km about 3 or 4km where good the rest just seemed to be a few rocks and and fire roads had about a teck factor of 4 at the most very distapointed on the technical level but as a hole ride was a good day out just not chanllenging more of a nice fire road ride.

I was brought up in north wales, but was never into my biking, but went down last week and gave it a go! Brilliant! I only have a budget bike hardtail at the minute but still it was gooood! Far more technical then i'd ever tried before, and energy sapping but worth the ride! I even entered into the Garmin challange that was running....not supprisingly, i didn't win!!!

rode this for the first time this weekend. Loved it. The uphill is hard and ended up walking but rewarded with the downhill which is technical and fast if you can handle it!!!!!
