Simply Excellent
Review:
Rode in January 2009 together with Ae, Mabie, Kirroughtree, Dalbeatie & Glentress.
It's a close run thing between this trail & Kirroughtree for the best in the area.
This is a trail in the mould of Whites Level at Afan & Twrch & Cwmcarn (i.e. you do a long climb, then a long descent).
Whether you like the climb clearly depends on how fit you are! But I wouldn't say it was that bad (I rode it on New Years Day after spending New Year in Edinburgh and this was the 4th day biking in a row).
Views at the top are great & the descent excellent. I would say though that a fully suspension with at least a four inch travel would make the final descent even better (there are some big optional jumps).

Well worth the climb
Review:
This has to be my favourite of all trail centre tracks. Yes, the climb to the top is a killer, and yes, the added technical bits make the ascents even more tiring. However, we get up to the top of Minch Moor on big heavy freeride bikes in about 1.5 - 2 hours including stops, and once that's over the view from the top of Minch Moor is a great reward.
Then it's downhill all the way, and by the time you reach the bottom you'll have forgotten all about the clib. Caddon bank has to be the best XC descent around - fast and bermy with lots of drops and jumps it's a great halfway house between proper DH and XC, and the fact it's on an exposed hillside which drops away to one side of you makes everything even more thrilling. The new red descent prior to this is also fantastic.
Agree that toilets would be a welcome addition, but that shouldn't reflect on the quality of the trail.
In short, if you haven't been, go!

Plenty of tracks to keep you busy:)
Really fun trail features and also technical tracks. And you can't beat Caddons bank for a flowy descent.

Dont do this trail without front suspension!
Review:
I did this trail on a really hot and sunny Saturday and it took me about 4 hours including a few stops on the way. The long climb up was painfully slow and tiring and not being an expert rider with a high level of fitness I found it very frustrating. I did this trail on an old Univega hard tail with rigid front forks which was not a good idea.
This trail is large and fairly long and must have taken allot of effort to make and has some crazy big and little jumps on the way back down that are excellent. I thought some of the rock sections were a bit to much and in places the trail just didn't flow very well.
A good atmosphere as you arrive in the car park and a good place for a BBQ or picnic. There are no toilets, bins or water taps to be found anywhere near by which is a shame.
I would say do this trail if you have a good level of stamina and a decent suspension bike with good brakes.
Enjoy
