Summary:
Leisurely trails with a variety of paths
Review:
Built around a leisure walking and cycling route the MTB trails are off the path and sometimes obscured. They can be quite fun but risk getting overgrown in parts as they are under-used and unmaintained. They are well built and signposted though.

Short and sweet local trails.

Philips park is easy to get to. Just off the motorway at Prestwich and connected to cycle route 6, an easy ride from Manchester or Bury. It's free to park but there are no other facilities. I went here to break in my new Diamondback Heist 2.0 hard tail.
The 2 short red trails, connected by a tarmac road ascent to make a figure 8 loop, are a great introduction to downhill riding. Fast and flowing with some optional jumps and features to play with. The north trail has some steep drops and tight twisting corners to test either your mettle or your brakes while the south trail is more steady sweeping turns with some optional jumps and rock beds to test your skills. There's also a sweet little look out point.
Didn't ride much of the blue trail but it seemed a pleasant and undemanding woodland trail that would be good for families. However the trail appeared to be poorly marked and, combined with the warren of walking trails, looks tricky to navigate.
