I dunno if you spritely young nippers are all too young to remember back in the day, but PORC used to be the capital of all things DH in the South East. Fogies like me (24!) will remember the bike paintball article in MFUK (don't ask). What I'm getting round to is that PORC is one of the foundations of everything we love about our sport/hobby.
DH/freeride wise it is in a state of evolution at the moment and may not have the appeal of some of the newer spots in the area, but there is still a great day out to be had there, easily enough to make the fee a bargain.
DJ: The quarry has just had yet another facelift, with bare lines now and the almost mandatory pump track. One of the few places to offer almost year round DJ, and a true classic. Get Some!
XC: I don't ride it myself, so can't comment on it but I will say that if all you can find is some five min loops, in the middle of THE SOUTH DOWNS then maybe outdoor sports aren't for you, eh?
PORC has had some unfair press lately, with mags running rumors about it changing hands and the races ending as gospel truth, when it is complete fabrication. The fact is the scene there is still as strong as ever, so treat yourself to a day there!

I've ridden a lot at PORC,and loved it, there's an AMAZING 4X track, and a great jump park.
And now thanks to little c**ks who decided to vandilise and ride round in the diggers, it's closing down and I'm going to have to go elsewhere to live a little :(

Wouldnt travel too long for this place, but good for beginner/intermediate downhillers and dirt jumpers. Lots of improvements happening and NPS 4x in August 09 so it should improve a lot over the summer.

If you want some decent jumps and are into freeride would be worth a visit. As far as XC is concerned there appeared to be some work being done to create some tracks, but they've a long way to go yet! For me there just isn't enough decent trail; but if I were into freeride I would probably have had a great day out.
