I find the best way to access the trail is from the Southowram cricket club. down the road on the right keeping left at the fork 100 metres past the cricket ground. Follow the stone wall on your right till it ends. Either go straight down the shoot at the end of path (less jumps on this trail) or jump over the wall on the right and follow the trail across the top of the hill until it leads you back through a break in the wall. You should see some of the jumps from here. there are loads of different trails to pick from with a few large jumps along the way. Definatley best to go in the dry. Enjoy.

Being new to this mountain biking lark, Im wanting something easy to start off with, and this sounds ok, but I'm confused about the access point. Can either of you clarify where you started (I agree with Whitty - the Crem probasbly aint the best place).
I'm told there are also some routes that can be accessed from the canal towpath between Brighouse and Elland. Anyone know where these are?

I have ridden a bit of these woods but only in dark. Have not come across any DH tracks though. Is there Any other points to locate it from? i.e the bottom. Not sure if you are allowed to use crem as access! I have got into woods further toward elland up a dead end street then a steep cobbled/red brick path. Am I in right area? cheers

Good Trail for begginers!
Review:
I recently went to Elland Park Woods trail and it was really good fun. Although we didn't go all the way to the end because of the mud was too thick and prevented us from riding on. So be advised, go when its dry. Its also in a really awkward place. Don't use google maps. You just end up no where near where you need to be.
The beggining of the trail is situated at the top of a hill. Although you have to go through a crematorium first. You'll get to the top where theres a car park. When your in the car park look towards the trees and you'll see a small opening and thats where the trail begins. Its bumpy and jumpy and theres a few trails it splits of into but you can just follow the main route. Not sure how far it is because we didnt make it to the end.
I would recommend only begginers and perhaps intermediates go on this route as it doesnt offer the thrills of a professional route. And as i'm only new to this i thought i'd try it out. :)
Anyway give it a go!
