Small businesses are the big ones in the real sense! Today, there are so many people who are going ahead and making their dream to own and run a business a reality. Any business, big or small, cannot be successful without the support of the end users- the customers. Customers are the key component that can make or break a business. When we think of a business, or a brand, it's the big and globally acclaimed ones that first come to mind. These are big giant businesses that are well established and have earned the reputation of being the market leaders.
On the other hand, every day a new business enters the market. This new and small business rarely receives a global name and operates within a local market. Small businesses include the local coffee shop round the block, your local pet mart, favorite boutique and other shops around your house. Basically, shops that are not big and known brand names but shops that are catering to a local market.
Now, take a moment to think about the number of such small businesses around you. You will be surprised! There are innumerable small businesses all around and when one considers the amount of time, money, effort and commitment put in by each of these it becomes even more remarkable. Small businesses are generally run by an individual or a small group of people who put in their life and soul into making it a successful business. Despite all of this, when we want even the smallest of things we usually walk into a large chain store or recognized departmental store. Most of us don't even consider walking into a locally owned small business/boutique for even the simplest of things.
Today, people are always looking for quick, fast and convenient solutions; be it shopping, medical aid, food or anything for that matter. This fast paced attitude is one of the reasons that people overlook and ignore small businesses and prefer a one-stop-for-all kind of shopping experience. If we really think about it, shopping from a small locally owned business/boutique can actually add to our convenience and also do a lot of good for the community at large.
5 reasons why you need to start shopping at a small business/boutique:
1. Community Welfare
Shopping at a local small business is a great contribution towards enhancing the community you live in. local business owners are from and for the community. The welfare of the business will directly contribute to the welfare of the community. Local small businesses are more likely to return the favor to the community through economic and social support. Some small businesses also work towards social and local causes, as a result benefitting the entire community.
1. Diversity
Most of us believe that the options at a chain store or a big business are the maximum possible! A chain store will only offer a set number of options and usually limit the options and brands it offers. On the other hand, a local or small business can offer a more diverse array of options, which can also keep varying from time to time. The inventory options at a locally owned store are immensely diverse and are actually a great advantage for the customers.
1. Price Regulation
Large and big businesses and chain stores generally have little or no control over the prices of the goods they offer. The vendor decides the price and the retailer follows. Where as in a local or small business the retailer has much more freedom and flexibility over the prices. Also, small businesses can afford to offer more deals, discounts and special prices as compared to big brands and chain stores.
1. Eagerness
If you walk into a chain store and ask for something that is not in stock, you have the option to walk out or settle for something else. At a local store, or a small business the retailer will go out of the way to get you exactly what you need. The eagerness to satisfy the customer is much higher in a small business as compared to a large one.
1. Customer Service
For a small business customer is king! The personalized service and passion for complete customer satisfaction can only be seen at a small business. A small business owner will do anything to please and satisfy the customer to ensure that the customer comes back again and again. This level of customer first approach is rarely seen at large chain stores.
And, hey! The business may be small today but you never know; it may turn out to be the largest one you have ever walked into!
