The Hell of the West is one great big day in the dirt taking riders out of Plymouth and onto the amazing trails neighbouring forests Cann, Newnham, Plymbridge, Shaugh Bridge and parts of Dartmoor too.
As with all previous Hell of the West events the route will be possible on a Cyclo-Cross bike. The terrain is varied and is for the most part off road with a few tarmac linking sections on quiet county roads.
Total distance for the The Hell of the West will be around 70km with a bail out option possible if you're not feeling so great on the day. It's a timed event but it's not a race, there's no prizes for winning but there'll be a medal at the end. It's not suitable for complete beginners.
You'll need a bike that can make it to the end, it can be a cross bike, a fat bike but you're most likely going to enjoy it best on a mountain bike.
There'll be a few 'Special Tests' along the way too.
For 2016 we're also introducing a special 'vintage' category for mountain bikes pre 1995. These bikes should be as close to their original specification as possible and in the spirit of the event. Period clothing is not essential but would be fun!
