The Haldon Heroic, organised & run in association with Colin Lewis Cycles, will take place from Exeter Racecourse on Saturday 2nd April 2016. Places are limited to 300 and this unique event is expected to sell out quickly so early registration is recommended.
The Haldon Heroic is an enduro style event over mixed terrain, with a course that is suitable for MTB, XC, or CX Bikes. The Haldon Heroic offers you a choice of four routes. The CX-Micro (15 miles), the CX-Mini (17 miles), the CX-Medio (36 miles) and the CX-Mega (50 miles).
The Haldon Heroic comprises five competitive off-road forest stages linked by a 27 mile mixed terrain, non-competitive Sportive course. Each of the five competitive stages are timed and prizes are awarded to the stage winners. There will also be some great 'Spot Prizes' to be won, just for completing these stages. The 'Sportive' course is not timed, leaving you to enjoy the ride at your own pace. The route is a mixture of Devon Country Lanes, Green Lanes, Bridelways, Farm Tracks, and Open Common.
The CX Mega uses all five stages and the full Sportive course, giving a tough challenge for any cyclo-cross or XC Rider. The CX-Medio uses two of the timed stages and the full Sportive course. The CX-Mini uses the same 2 stages as the CX-Medio route but only does half of the Sportive course. The CX-Micro is an afternoon only course and uses the last three timed stages and the quiet roads around Haldon Forest to link the stages together. The combination of these four routes ensures that there is something available for everyone to enjoy.
For full details of each of these routes, please see the respective route Information pages.
When participating in the Haldon Heroic you can be confident that you will be fully supported from start to finish.
Prior to commencing the ride, you will be issued with a unique 'Rider Number' which must be attached to the handlebars of your bike. This identifies that you are participating in the event and is also used by the official photographers so you can quickly and easily find your photos. On the rear of your 'Rider Number' you will find our event support number which you can call at any time during the event should you require assistance.
We will have professional medics and mechanics available should you require their assistance and we also have support vans that can come and pick you up should you find you are unable to complete the course.
All routes are clearly signed and marshaled and we have electronic routes available to download in a variety of formats for those with GPS enabled bike computers.
There is a Feed Station for those taking part in the CX-Medio & CX-Mega routes. Our Feed Stations are always well stocked and offer hot & cold drinks along with a wide range of quality foods and Hi 5 energy products. There will also be 'Drinks Stations' at Haldon for all routes. Catering will be provided by Exeter Racecourse for the finish of your ride.
There will be professional photographers out on the course, taking action photos as a memento of your day with us (photos are optional and not included as part of your entry fee).
All finishers will receive one of our Commemorative Haldon Heroic Mugs.
