Back for its second year, and ready to build on the great success of 2017, the South East Coast Off Road Bike Ride offers a brand new start and finish location, situated in the picturesque Centenary Park in Peacehaven and 3 new intertwined routes for 2018, suitable for a wider range of skills and abilities.

20 Miles

The shortest of our routes aims to provide riders with a nice mixture of different trails that make the South Downs such an amazing place to ride, whilst minimising those brutal climbs – the perfect route for someone fairly new to mountain bike riding. After peeling off from the other distances, you’ll head alongside the River Ouse, before climbing up onto the South Downs where you’ll take in some spectacular summertime views. As you make your way back to the coast you’ll enjoy the wonderful winding descent into the hidden Woodingdean Valley before getting up close and personal with the sea, riding alongside the coastline, beneath the imposing white chalk cliffs back to Peacehaven to finish.

38 Miles

The 38 mile route adds a hilly extension for riders, over the hillside to the north of Seaford, through the steep Rathfinny vineyard valleys, along quiet trails, plummeting to the picturesque village of Alfriston on some great single-track - a perfect ride for those with some mountain bike experience.

50 Miles

For those who want some additional technical riding, the 50 mile route will take you further east, crossing the Cuckmere river and winding through Friston Forest, over the hilltops and blasting down to the famous Birling Gap and iconic views. From there you’ll head back inland, along the classic South Downs Way, with a fast & fun descent down into Jevington where you join the old coach road, a rough and rutted track that skirts the foot of the steep northern escarpment of the South Downs. Back in Alfriston the route merges once more with the 38mile route, continuing along the old coach road for a fast and fun ride along the foot of the South Downs, before finally climbing up onto it, which will test even the strongest of legs. Once up on the ridgetop the route offers stunning panoramic views in all directions and a brief rest before a rattling descent to re-join the 20 mile route along the River Ouse.

Rest Stops - there will be rest stops along the route. Each stop will have complimentary small snacks and hot and cold food/drinks to purchase Support - the ride is supported by first aid, search and rescue and bike mechanics. Toilets and refreshments will be available at each location.  Finish site - There will be lots to do at the finish line including entertainment, food, music, free massages and more!

Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event but it's the money you raise that powers our life saving research, so we are asking you to try to raise at least £100.00
