Bedgebury Forest CC Summer XC Series happens once a month in the summer months. You don’t have to be a BC member or join a club, although we’d obviously recommend it! You can pay for your race entry on the day along with a day license if you need one (applicable for non-BC riders).
The races are mass start format (see the schedule below) and are perfect for all abilities. The dedicated singletrack racetrack is separate from the main Bedgebury Red/Blue route and is non-technical at low speeds – as you get faster the twisty nature of the course becomes more technical, making the races a great way to get into (and improve upon) your racing. We have hosted plenty of first-timers as well as the odd National Champion so everyone is warmly welcomed!
If parking at the main Bedgebury Visitor Centre you should allow around 20 minutes to make your way from the car park to the event HQ. Follow the signs for the main Red/Blue route and climb towards the top of the first hill/radio tower – the race HQ is accessed approximately 2/3rds of the way up on the right hand side of the main fireroad – if you look closely you’ll see the race track course tape in the trees as you climb the to the HQ. Please only join the race track from the start/finish area as racing is often in different directions and can be confusing. At the visitors centre you will find toilets, showers, a cafe, bike shop and jet wash - Please note, that Forestry Commission parking charges apply if you use the main car park at the Bedgebury Visitor Centre.
The U8, U10 and U12 age groups have separate races on a shorter course. All Juniors / Seniors / Veterans will ride in the same 1 hour race, with Youth riders joining after 15 minutes, followed by Juvenile riders after another 15 minutes (see the schedule below).
Timetable
The Leader will receive the Bell so as to finish as near as possible to just over full race distance and all riders will finish on the same lap.
