The Bedgebury Forest CC 6-hour happens in the middle of Summer once a year – this year it’s June the 6th! You don’t have to be a BC member or join a club, although we’d obviously recommend it! You can pay for your race entry on the day along with a day license if you need one (applicable for non-BC riders).
The race is mass start format and is suitable for all abilities. You can enter as a solo racer, as a pair, or as a team. Pairs and Teams will have maximum of one rider out on course at any one time and will make changes in a dedicated handover area/pits. Solos can still take a break if they wish in the pits – it’s a brilliant way to try Endurance racing for the first time, especially if you’re preparing for a 12 or 24 hour later on in the Summer as the rules/format are the same. You’ll find all Endurance racing to be welcoming and friendly but our race is especially so.
The dedicated singletrack racetrack is separate from the main Bedgebury Red/Blue route and is non-technical at low speeds – as you get faster the twisty nature of the course becomes more technical, making the race a great way to get into (and/or improve upon) your racing. We have hosted plenty of first-timers as well as the odd National Champion so everyone is warmly welcomed!
Timetable and support race to be confirmed.
After 6 hours the chequered flag will be put out and every rider will finish on this lap. The winner will be the rider/pair/team who has completed the most laps. Riders/pairs/teams that finish on the same number of laps will be ranked in the order that they cross the line. Full rules and regs are on the website - https://www.boarsonbikes.co.uk/ - Inquiries can be made by emailing [email protected]
Nearer the time we’ll be publishing some more info about how to prepare for Marathon/Endurance racing.
If parking at the main Bedgebury Visitor Centre you should allow around 20 minutes to make your way from the car park to the event HQ. Follow the signs for the main Red/Blue route and climb towards the top of the first hill/radio tower – the race HQ is accessed approximately 2/3rds of the way up on the right hand side of the main fireroad – if you look closely you’ll see the race track course tape in the trees as you climb the to the HQ. Please only join the race track from the start/finish area as racing is often in different directions and can be confusing. At the visitor’s centre you will find toilets, showers, a cafe, bike shop and jet wash - Please note that Forestry Commission parking charges apply if you use the main car park at the Bedgebury Visitor Centre.
Fancy volunteering? We need helpers for this race and for each of the XC Series dates. More people make light work and even if you can only help with one of these dates it would make a big difference to our small team. Please give us a shout if you can help with registration, lap scoring, marshalling or first aid. We also welcome photographers – please upload your photos to our Facebook page.
