Hi, I've done the last two of these events at whinlatter and were a good test of my fitness. Fortunately on both events the weather was favourable so not too slippy. With a mix of terrain from hard pack to loose slate i would recommend a good dual compound tyre to cope with it all. I was on a hardtail and found it tough going on the lower back on the second lap. A couple of the climbs are quite gruelling but it is a good event in its infancy as this wil be its 3rd year. I have an image of the course route from the first event which i will put on my profile. Good luck if you do it and beware of slippy wooden bridges!! Ps they do have feed stations round the course from which you can top up a bottle/bladder>>you need them
