Battle at the Bike Park is a 3 hour XC mountain bike race that will take place at Northampton Bike Park. This event is a collaboration between MTB Epics UK, Outcast Racing, N'pton Bike Park and the FNSS.
The bike park is situated on the site of the original Battle of Northampton that took place in 1460. This historical skirmish was between the Lancastrians and the Yorkists and was part of the War of the Roses. The Yorkists were the victors on the day as the King’s Lancastrian army fled their defensive positions at nearby Delapre Abbey. Read more.
The battle has now been re-ignited in the form of an XC race – who will be the new victors some 564 years later?!
The Course
The course will utilise many of the bike park’s features including berms, rollers and tabletops, plus a woodland section featuring A and B line options. It also uses the adjacent woodland singletrack sections which have been used in races here for many year.
The park’s skills area will also be included in the course and is where the start/finish and pits are located. This ‘stadium section’ will also serve as a great viewing spot for spectators with prolonged views of the race.
