Liking the effort to detail definitely. Not a major fan of the forks used but the blue helps accent it. Definitely recommend the double with bash you've mentioned your going to pick up. Top bike. Camo for the win ;)

nice, but i dnt like clipless pedals

pugnacious replied... on 14 November 2009

I did a lot of riding to uni and back (120miles a week) so SPDs were a must really. Put my flats back on now it's for 'social' use though:P

All round a very nice build. I do like the colour and the spokes are great! Od you find it front end heavy with triples? Or limited the trails? ps I know what you're saying about straightening wheels... very relaxing.

pugnacious replied... on 7 November 2009

The e150 (tripples) are actually lighter than the pike 351 that came with it.

pugnacious replied... on 7 November 2009

Don't have any problems on trails that I can report. I find it quite nimble and seems to stand up well.
The only thing I would improve is shortening the cockpit length/front weight; I can't seem to manual more than a bike length as it takes so much to pull up and then stabilise.

good looking wheels dude, top job

Thanks the rims were an arse to straighten though, the posty must of been a bit rough.
First wheel-building expirience, I actually find it peaceful

Bah photo down-grading on this site means you can't really make out the spokes; but the two colours glisten really nicely in the sun.

I'll start out by rating my own. Only fault I've found is the low BB, but I'll be getting a double/single crank set next summer. Suggestions welcomed.

While working in Germany for a year, I decided to buy a mountain bike to go into the Alps on. After visiting the local shop I narrowed my options to a trek EX8 or the specialized pitch.
After Reading a review on bike radar for the Pitch I decided for the money it was a much better deal, had a strong frame and I got a load of Spesh accessories thrown in. I didn't like the yellow when I first got it; but it's now weathered into a nice honey/gold. Probably the only one in euro colours in the country.

The bike is a great all rounder: trails and jumps were no problem and I had instant confidence despite not really riding since my BMX in my teens. While back at uni last year I commuted 120miles a week without any problems; in fact the rear sus helped on English roads. The only down side was the drive-train was a low group-set and wet riding went through 3 sets of Deore cranks in the year (luckily ?40 a piece).
The wheels were also rather weak so I've built my own up, along with changing the Pike forks.

Frame: Specialized Pitch 2008 with Fox RP2 (Large)
Forks: Specialized e150 (Painted Royal blue). From an Enduro S-works
Rear wheel
-Hub: Hope Pro 2 (gold)
-Spokes: gold & blue (ordered from China)
-Rim: Sun Ringle Single Track (winter camo)
-Tyres: Maxxis Minion DH R
Front wheel
-Hub: Specialized S-works 25mm (red)
-Spokes: gold & blue (ordered from China)
-Rim: Sun Ringle Single Track (winter camo)
-Tyres: Maxxis Minion DH F
Drive-train
-Cranks: RaceFace XC triple
-Pedals: Crank Brothers Smarty (blue & yellow)
Grips: Primo the wall (Green) BMX grips

The saddle, seat post & clamp and bars are still standard. Someone stole my new saddle & post last week.
