Its a long story but resulted from massive drive train failure. The cost to replace all the geared bit was a lot more than i could afford. A SS'er i know suggested i give it a try so i did. I love the theory of focusing on lines and momentum rather than reaching for another gear when it gets tough.
On top of that i love to do things the hard way! I love pushing myself and with gears i just whimp out and grab the next cog!
Im not gonna go into which is better, because its personal preference, but i love single speed already!
The SS'er in my club is quicker tham most over technical terrain. Thought id join him.
Converted to single speed! Wheels Manufacturing SSK3 kit with KMC Z610HX 1/2 inch 3/32 chain and KMC 1/2 link to provide great tension without a tensioner.
32/16 ratio to start but i may drop to 32/18 depending on how local rides.
2kg lighter without all the gear stuff!

Initial cost was around £750 GBP last year. The SSK3 conversion was £20, chain £10 and half link £3. Bargain.
