Given it a 10 cos i've got one (and its great, and like the fact its dirty. Theres too many people scoring bikes down cos there not clean!! Mines never clean.
How are you finding the forks? Mine were doing ok until i rode the Plenny DH where the compression cartdidge blew up!!!

These bikes need to work!(I do clear her after a mud bath, but see no piont in having a pic of something I could have downloaded from Evans....what fork did you kill?Marzocchi or Fox? The stock Marzocchi lost compression. Will see if Marzocchi will replace of fix....

Rode road and mtb for years then stopped due to work. Then the time came to get back in the saddle again! I have space for ONE bike (house in London, near Waltham forest and Epping), so had to find something that will do everything. Went through the options and the SX trail ticked most of the boxes. Got the stock standard trail 1. The logic is that something wears out of breaks I will replace it with what is more suited to what I find myself predominantly doing with the bike.

Weight wise not sure. My scale suggests around 17 kg’s but it does not feel that heavy. Think the scale is rubbish, but it is not the lightest bike I have ever ridden. It is possible to put it on a diet –titanium coil this and carbon lever that, but you’ll pick up the weight in mud and debris if you ride in the UK. It rolls on dt swiss e540’s so lighter is possible, but wheels is one place I would not skim on strength.

Handling is brilliant everywhere! DH, point and it goes there. Light enough to through it around and the bike will sort out what I overcook (creates far too much confidence far too quickly). Use it for a bit of XC after work during the week, around 15km and it works. Can get the saddle up high enough to ride it comfortably for any given time.

If your only into DH there would be more suited bikes, but will loose the XC capability and nimbleness of the SX. Also, I would not recommend doing the Cape Epic on this baby. But as an all round bike it works brilliantly. I also seriously doubt if most of the people (me included) will ever push an SX trail to the end of its rope free riding it.

The fork is brilliant. Before you can go down you need to go up, or get there. Lockout very, very use full in real life environment. Had a bit of a road session this weekend (shooting down to Debden from Epping Forest after our ride) and I was amazed how well it works on the blacktop (and bike lane!!!). Locked out the front, crank up the pro peddle on the fox and there she goes! Got about 45 km in on Saturday in all terrain and the bike works well all round. Strange thing is it climbs well. I won’t enter a hill climb with it, but it is not the biggest pain to get to the top of hills both tar and dirt!
