I had the 6.5 spec on the 5.5 frame (bike shop order confusion)
Noticed someone said it looks strong. i thought so too but the frame snapped just infront of the rear brake, not all bad tho as trek were so annoyed it broke they sent me a fuel ex 9 frame n shock for free! all good in the end

Never heard it was a problem with the bikes but it obviously was, was just expecting them to replace it but was very happy when i got the frame, thats a nice bike btw, my uncle rides a marin always liked them!

that was a common problem on the early ex frames which i believe trek had to put right. i always waited for mine to go but it never did. same happened to me with my nrs when it snapped at4 years old and giant replaced with the top end frame
