I'm a sucker for do-it-all bikes. This is Kona's 2010 freeride/gravity trail bike. The magic link gives the rear end up to 7 inches of big hit travel yet also allows the bike to climb like a much shorter travel machine. How? Shhhh. It's a secret.
I'll be running a Gravity Dropper Turbo post on trails with ups.
Hammerschmidt Crank.
fox 160mm air fork
fox RP23 160mm rear shock
SLX brakes
Big travel Kona magic link
Sram X9 short cage 9 speed polished kona bar stem post combo.
Kona Coilair Scandium frame.
Running maxxis tyres. Got options of swampthing, front and rear specific minions and a high roller all in 2.35 as well as a double ply minion DHF in 2.5 that came on the front.
Got DH tubes but running regular tubes with 2.35 tyres to lose a bit of weight and make it a bit more climb friendly.

thanks. I think Kona made some bad choices looks wise on their bikes and people couldnt take them seriously. If it looks like it was designed by a 13 year old kid in a technology class, people expect it'll ride just as bad.

Had one run round Chopwell so far. Just changed the tyres and tubes today. Bloody hard work! Still got the Kona Shred. Gonna keep the Shred for xc stuff and the coilair will be for more hardcore trails. Perfect Alps bike I hope. Seen a bit of ice and snow at Hammers. Ice is not much good eh.

Aha! A New shiny bike! What's that crankset like then? I was looking at a sunn ht with that crank but I went for a normal setup on the ns in the end. Looks like its got a lot of ground clearance. Nice bike, should be a good all-round machine.
