I realise I'm a bit late in the day to add this, and not even sure if you'll receive this but I thought I'd give it a go anyway; I'm looking seriously at acquiring one of these frames but I've been trying to look up info such as frame sizing, especially suiting different heights, and quality over all. So, I was wondering what size frame yours is/was, how tall are you and does it suit well? And also hows it going generally?..
Awesome! ...you will not be dissappointed! :D ...Believe the stock spring was around 500/600lbs, i actually dropped to a 450lb if i remember in order to get the full 9 inches of travel so well worth checking out the spring calculator on the TFTuned site if you havent already to make sure you get the right one on there. Look forward to seeing some pics and yeah i'd definitely be up for a shred when your up and running!
Nice one Steve! (I take it is? haha) Thanx for the reply mate, sounds good and I like what I hear, extra so as I've since bought one ;-)
I hear ya and take on board what you say about the shock, I'll see how it goes for as long as poss, mainly coz the frame and subsequent soon-to-be-ordered parts will clean me out for a while :-). Maybe worth sticking a stiffer spring on..?.. (I've usually had to do with with past shocks.
Thanks again for the reply and good info hey, maybe when mine's good to go I'll let you know, hook up on the trails
He Mik, awesome frame, cant recomend it enough but you will want to (or at some point need to) replace the shock. - Im my experience Manitou swingers are a little delicate. The frame is a 15" which sounds small but when built is bang on for me - i'm around 6ft ish, weigh about 10.5 stones. The frame has a a lot of choice for shock mount positions meaning you can raise and lower the BB / slacken or straighten the head angle to tweak the geometry to your needs. The frame alone is light for a full on DH frame and the welds and gussets are more than enough to take anything you can throw at it. ive been using this frame for 3-4 years now, I ride it hard, it eats all the big stuff, and still looks as new and shiny as the day i got it.
The spec im running now is totally diffrent to the one above - its sitting on TFTuned 2010 boxxer teams and a fox DHX4 rear shock, chris king headset, gold superwide raceface bars, PRO stem, loads of other bits. will try and stick a more recent picture up on my profile page so you can see how good these frames can look ;) ... as i say though, if you go for one, be weary of that shock and budget for a replacement/upgrade.
da bomb frames are cheaply built and some of the spec is nothing to scream about, but so long as it gets you down the hill nicely thats all that matters (:
