Very nice bike but not sure your 3.2kg figure is correct. My Santa Cruz Superlight is kitted out with some pretty light components and weighs roughly 11.5kg (not sure how accurate the scales were) for a size large frame including the pedals, computer etc. I love the orange/black colour scheme, very tidy. ;)

Joe Pineapples replied... on 4 September 2010

Reaper, the 3.2kg weight I quoted is for the frame and shock alone. The whole bike weighs in around the 14kg mark, although there have been a lot of changes since this photo was taken.
The terrible Hope brakes have gone, replaced with Avid Elixir R's, the bars & stem have been swapped for KORE B.F.D. ones and I've put a full SLX groupset on it. I've never tried to make it light, I've just tried to stop things breaking.

it's nice to see something different for a change. and nice to see it being a single pivot aswell. i give it a 7 cuz it has that shinny saddle but i marked it up again cuz of the zx6r sweet bike min, two single pivots in one shed way to go.

Joe Pineapples replied... on 16 December 2007

Cheers Russ, if it's any consolation the 'pimp my ride' saddle has now gone in favour of a fizik one.

how are they to ride?, ive never ridden one and they jus seem to call out to me to ride one lol

Joe Pineapples replied... on 25 November 2007

I can now confirm that it is in fact fantastic. After spending an hour or so getting the shock set to how I like it, it's now mega. Plush but controllable and not at all loose. It corners really well, and climbs almost as good as my old RockLobster hardtail. I'm well happy with it.

Joe Pineapples replied... on 15 November 2007

I'll let you know next week after I've been out on it! It's the Scotland/Italy game this Saturday so I'm not going to be fit to ride at ANY point over the weekend!

I'm not liking the Gary Glitter-esque seat but apart from that it's an awesome bike! I bet it's an amazing ride too.

Joe Pineapples replied... on 12 November 2007

Well I have to agree, and have seen the error of my ways. That's why there'll be a new Fizik one going on it tomorrow.

mmm looks heavy but solid I suppose..

Joe Pineapples replied... on 6 November 2007

It's not bad, not as heavy as it looks, only 3.2kg inc. shock.

'Woody' is finally in one piece. The full spec, starting at the front, is: FireEye bars + Cane Creek S8 headset, DMR Conrod stem, RockShox Revelation 426 forks, Mavic EN521 rims + Shimano XT hubs, Manitou Swinger Air 3-Way, Shimano XT crankset + mechs (from my old Rocklobster), Hope Mono M4 brakes, DMR V8's, Michelin All-Mountain AT tyres and KCNC jockey wheels. Just got the frame back from powder coating bright orange.
