Lonesome Pine Trail - Kielder Forest

Built by The Kielder Trail Reaver's (KTR) this red graded trail will appeal to riders who want their fitness and skill levels tested but who aren't looking to scare themselves stupid all the way round. It's a pretty trail with outstanding views but not so much in the way of heart stopping drop-offs or technical features to keep the maniac in you occupied. The trail begins gently and uses part of the new Lakeside Way trail to take you the few kilometers to the start of the red graded action. From there you'll be climbing to the highest point where you'll not only find amazing views but also one whole kilometer of raised wooden "northshore" style decking to help you across the soggy moor before you begin the descent back to Kielder Castle and the start point. You'll find about fifty percent of the ride is single track with one hundred percent of the scenery qualifying as beautiful. A strenuous ride which will appeal to riders of varying skills levels.
