Summary:
Forget the skills area/pump track and (respectfully) enjoy the local shared trails. enjoy
Review:
The official stuff seems lost in the mists of time (and as the reviews suggest didn't really cut it in the first place), but the regular paths give plenty of nice climbs and decents as long as you are respectful of the other bipedal inhabitants of which there are a fair few.

Confusing!

I dont mean to offend anyone, as I know a lot of hard work has gone into getting this built whilst keeping the council and walkers pleased but I think they could have gone about it a lot better.
Bridle paths aside (as I think they're great for families and wheelchair users to enjoy the fantastic views the place has to give) the pump tack just doesn't work! its backwards for starters, would work 'so' much better the other way around, because as it is now, its just an uphill struggle! literally!, but does seem great for kids. Which brings me to my next point. I'm sure I've seen that the NWR where stopping any builds on the unofficial track to keep the council happy so they could get the pump track? peoples time and hard work get demolished so children can have a 'play' area near the car-park, when all along I thought the aim was to get proper stuff to ride in that area!
I personally really enjoy having a blast down the unofficial track and think its a really good base to start some really good short trails down from the top. Surely the better (and cheaper) plan would be to get permission to build that into an official trail, adding bumps, jumps, maybe a bit of north shore stuff etc etc, than to have a load of expensive sand put together in expensive labor time into a very badly built pumptrack! Further more to this, its not going to stop anyone riding or building on the other trail because no-one is going to want to ride the pump track, apart from children and families that wouldn't necessarily ride the unofficial trail.
PS I'm not one of the people who leave the woods in a state when building up there! I feel people should be free to put their own time and effort into building trails for all to enjoy but don't agree with disrespect for the land.
