Love Hopton, use the main red trail as a basic route to explore elsewhere in the woods, plenty there to go at!

Review:
To start i had read up many reviews on this trail and found a lot of incorrect reviews at that!!! The trail was easy to find from sign post to forestry parking area as the three of us looked around you could see the trails under the trees and they looked fast and well great. The hopton wood trail xc delivered straight from the start what we thought was actual trail turned out to be warm up trail lol but we then found proper start point of car park. Honestly this trail has got a couple of nasty climbs but more than makes up for them with fantastic descents we have been all round UK on mtb trails and this is now in my top 5. The smooth fast ground of the trails is almost so natural u couldn't wish for better and if u want more of challenge which we did not but ended up going down black run!!! they were brilliant and the red trail was easy to find if you wanted to try the black runs between red run. Go and try this trail well worth the visit.

This will be a great trail in the dryer months.
Review:
Have ridden this trail a few times, pretty much everytime in the wet, as it doesnt' seem to drain well.
However. Last week, I rode it when it had been dry for ages, WOW!!!!
Awesome, Go ride it. Fast flowing technical singletrack. Loved it. Going back soon before it rains again!!!!

I went here at the start of April, to find snow on the ground! The start point is a bit confusing, as there is a warm up 'blue' lap. Once on the red trail, you are straight in to some great DH sections, that flow great, if you can..... There is a climb soon after, which is big; some single track, but mostly fire road. You then hit another down, that starts on an old DH track, then splits to the red trail. Next time I go, I'll carry on down the DH trail, but that will mean a big climb again. The trail then undulates for the rest of the trail. You pop out into a different parking area near the end and there are signs for another Blue loop, which I didn't do, but will next time.
The trail is ace. Much gnarlier than Cannock, Glyncorwwg and those sort of places. It somehow feels more natural too. I went to Pearce Cycles after and had a chat with a staff member, who showed me the future extensions to the course and they look good. Something to break up the long climb and other bits where there seems to be fire road now.
It's two hours from me and I will go back again and take people. Best trail I've ridden in a while.
