A very nice place to learn mtb

I have cycled here countless times and over my rides here I went from an absolute novice to finishing the slab, it's a great course although there isn't really anything that is exhilarating. Also, finishing all of it is a full day venture.

too much fireroad

ok so not a great start to Dalbeattie as theres no visitor centre, only a small car park and a hose.
Overall I was left a bit disappointed by the Hardrock trail. According to the map its 65% singletrack which to me means 35% fireroad - a bit too much for my liking. There was far too much uphill and the long twisty singletrack descent never seemed to come, which is a shame because what downhill singletrack there was was really fun, especially the rocky sections that characterise the trail and features like The Slab and Twin Sisters.

This has got everything! Techy climbs, fast descents, woodwork and of course the slab! I ride regularly in D&G and this trail centre is always on the itinerary.

This a very enjoyable trail. the natural slabs popping out all over the place make for very fun drop offs and challenging climbs. There are quite a few fire road sections joining the single track but these are short and sometimes a welcome addition giving you a chance to recover from more intense sections. there are some excellent drop offs here, some quite severe and although I loved the challenge I've done similar ones on some black trails so novices beware
