Fair warning, I've rose-coloured glasses when it comes to Beecraigs, Its a fantastic location, easily accessible from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Stirling and beyond. The trails range from friendly blues featuring a good variety of sections and terrains, through to some quite tasty red/black trails. Granted these are more marked by twists, hills, mud, and exposed roots rather than drop offs and berms, but you'll certainly be kept alert.
The new skills area (there's another red-rated one at the top of the trails) is one of the better ones I've visited. The blue is nice and berm-y, the red adds a few more rocks and drops, while the black is technical enough to warrant a couple of walk throughs before you climb on the bike.
It might lack a nice cafe and a bike shop, but a quick stop off in Linlithgow, or Bathgate is just the ticket. Well, well, well worth a visit.
