Stunning forest, decent loamy trails, easy access
Review:
I rode three times over a weekend spent here and I have to say the beauty of this forest is stunning. It has a primordial look, with ferns and giant flowers everywhere. Just amazing.
With regards to the trails, there are loads of them, with most having plenty of roots and little drops. There are some steep sections, most in the easy to moderate level. No rock gardens anywhere to be found and in some sections the ground is just sand. As others may have said, it can be a bit overgrown in places but that's to be expected. It's worth mentioning that these trails did not strike me as of the XC type, but rather DH. There are gravel roads leading to the top of the hills and loads of downhill runs departing from these roads, but there is no proper XC loop as far as I know. This suits me very well. Also, the place is relatively small, thus you can just drop in and have an hour or two of good fun without much of a commitment.
The trails themselves are short and sweet, catering for all abilities, although the most severe features are few and now a bit in decay.
I loved being here, absolutely loved it. Great fun.

This is a forestry commision forest with quite a few singletrack sections that are unofficial but tolerated. I used the trailforks app and strava heatmap to find the trails, but most of the good ones start from the same hill in the middle of the forest that is easy to find. The DH sections are short but then lead onto singletrack sections through the trees that offer some small jumps and drop-offs. Sometimes the trails kind of disappear and it's not clear where to go, but there are many well established routes to follow too.
I really enjoyed riding here. It makes a change from the manicured bike parks and trail centres. Some of the trails could do with being repaired and I think I might head down with a spade at some point and do some repair work. But this is easily one of the best places to ride in the area, it's a blast, especially the DH sections. Just wish they were longer but hey-ho! It's the south of england, what do you expect.
There are also dirt jumps towards the north of the forest but I didn't get a chance to explore that much. I'll definitely be going back!

A bit disappointing
Review:
Reading the reviews and looking at the pictures, it looked for a good days riding. Spent a long time exploring and found lots of descent DH section and not a lot of steep climbing to do. However, the it seems a lot of the dirt jumps have been knocked down or damaged. Locals suggest its not as good as it used to be.

"grlscanbiketo" sums this place up pretty well, but there is lots of stuff you wouldn't be able to find without being shown round - go to www.ridepuddletown.co.uk for more info!
