Thanks to a group of dedicated parents, a once-neglected site in Marsh Barton is up and running again — and open to all without the need to break in.

Riders used to flock to the Exeter Eagles BMX Centre in Cofton Road but as numbers in the group dwindled the track fell into disrepair and was locked up for health and safety reasons.

This didn't put off some, who broke through the fence to use the track and the area became known as a vandalism hotspot.

Mums and dads became sick of the situation and have spent the past two years working hard to get the track renovated and reopened when they learned there was danger of it being lost for ever and made into a lorry park.


For the first time in five years, staff will throw open its doors for the summer holidays.
