did this trail for the first time today wind was blowing a gale (well it felt like it) i would recommend it to anybody who wants to know where their fitness level is at. try to do it on a calm day if you can, that's what I'm gona do there are some absolutely fab down hills and plenty of testing climbs. i would say other than New Mills in the peak district witch I did with Evans Cycles couple of years ago this has to be the most testing of your stamina but it was great fun, can't wait to do it again without the wind blowing in your face no mater witch way your going. You've got to do the long version you'll love it.

Did this yesterday to see where I was stamina-wise, great ride, some great downs and some equally testing leg-burners which seem almost vertical at some points, but hey, you`ve gotta earn your downhills! Was 23+ deg yesterday so if you`re doing it in summer, top that Camelback to the brim :-)

Summary:
A tough trail along the moorland bridleways from Lancs to Yorkshire and back
Review:
This was one of my regular trails from years gone by. Encompassing sections of the Mary Towneley Loop, this is usual bridleway fare. Tough climbs on pretty difficult terrain with a foray into Yorkshire. The downhill section into Bottomley will definitely test the nerves as it is steep and rocky with a 100ft drop off the edge of the path!! The Inchfield Road ascent is a real lung buster but worth it for the narrow descent from Rough Hill to Watergrove (Wardle) Reservoir. Definitely try the longer version.
