wide up-hill fire tracks, made of ash or small compact rock, none technical down-hills, and very little to excite... frankly I wont be making the 1.5hr drive any time soon... ps have the beans on toast, the bacon sandwich aint that great :0(

Review:
After reading good reviews on this place, booked a day off work & went up with a mate for a blast! After the 2.5 mile bore of an uphill fire road i was still a little exicted about the downhills to follow.
My excitment soon faded. The down hill section are not very long & not enough of them.
I did raise a smile in a few sections but that was about it.
Glad i have tried it but will not be rushing back. Cannock chase is far better!!

Review:
The first uphill section which lasts about 2.5 miles seems endless and uninteresting. Once you get to the rollercoaster and the first real downhill section it becomes more exciting. The only let-down with this is the downhill sections only last for 30-40seconds.
Once you get past the black run there is good single track section through the forest but once you cross the first fire road, its almost always quick downhill then steep uphill. The long climb makes you think there will be more downhill but it is dissapointing. If you want more fun and technical sections, use the black run, its more of a 'red' run anyway.
Staff are friendly and shop is half decent.

me n a couple of my friends recently rode this trail after it recieved such high rating from all the top mtb mags.......how these so called experts came to this crazy ass conclusion absolutely bamboozles me!!
after the 1st 5km of shite uphill fire road we thought to ourselves its got to improve from here. how wrong we were! it just continued level for another couple of km or so! the 1st descent was terrible, ruff with no flow n lasted 10-20secs. then another boring slog up crap fire road. its not until your atleast half way through the place that you get to anythin that slightly resembles fun n then there only short 15-25secs bursts. all in all, very disapointed you would honestly have to pay me to go there again.
to anyone thinking about going for the xc, dont! unless its on your doorstep. im from the midlands & fortunately have cannock chases new `monkey trail` on my doorstep, which i highly recomend anyone on here that rated this so well. it blows this place out the water.

Review:
After riding the blue route a few weeks ago i was expecting a bit more downhill flow from this route. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind climbing in the slightest but it didnt really feel like there were any sections that really took advantage of the altitude.
That said i still loved it, just didnt enjoy it as much as the altura trail i had ridden a couple of days previous.
I will reserve proper judgment until ive ridden it again!!
Cracking facilities and nice friendly Staff.
The bike wash is lame, dont waste your ?1.
