Great jumps for beginners!
Review:
I love riding technical trails but I have never been confident with jumps, mainly because most places you visit goes from one extreme to the other from a roller to a ridiculous drop off that no beginner would want to attempt. My first visit to Carron Valley I was able to hit every jump, they are a great height for people like myself who are still learning. The trails have great flow to them and they have done a really great job with the gradient. You feel like the climb up is worth it for the way back down unlike a lot of other places where you're not quite sure what happened to all the height you just climbed. They're not remotely technical but like i said, if you're looking for somewhere to practice jumping that will fill you with confidence then I would 100% give this place a visit. They also have amazing flow and you can pick up a fair amount of speed once you've ridden them a few times!
I'd just also like to point out that though the jumps are great for beginners, as an advanced rider you can still have great amounts of fun here as witnessed by myself on my last visit!

A staple of the local cycling scene Carron Valley trails offer a nice couple of hours riding.
The heart of Carron Valley Trails is the famous runway, a jump/drop line that is over and done with far too soon; turn left after the very first single track climb and continue up the fire road for a short cut to the top.
The trail itself is a figure-8 with a mixture of single track and fire road climbs and single track descents.
Refreshingly almost none of the altitude you gain is wasted on fire roads, being used instead for the fast and flowing single track; a fair portion of the climbing is done on sculpted trail. The single track itself is littered with features bold enough for experienced riders but easy enough for novices and children.
There is a regulation Forestry Commision Pay-and-Display car park with regulation pot holes. Facilities are limited to toilets.

This is a quality little collection of trails.
My initial ride around here was slightly hampered as my gears were frozen but luckily after 30 min the crank defrosted.
I went about these trails a bit back to front as wasn't sure which order to do them in, on a few occassions you are faced with multiple choice directions. So I actually started off by doing the runway ending up back at the car park. Then went back up and followed pipe dream, this is when the the gears free'd up. So did another loop of pipe dream, headed up Eas Dubh and then finished off with a 2nd shot at runway which was even better as i could get some speed between jumps this time.
On a hole a wicked little ride which you could loop a few times to get a couple of hours out of with out getting bored. If you've got this on your doorstep then lucky you.
