I've been riding mountain bikes since I was 17-18. My first bike was a Raleigh Mantis. Gawdy looking bike and the frame was far too big for me but I loved it. It stayed with me for about 10 years until I decided to take mountain biking a bit more seriously and bought my first Kona. It was a £500 Blast and I loved it. My riding improved no end. The bike was light, correctly sized and suited my riding style. I've still got it and use it for commuting. I moved onto a Giant Full Suss XC NRS2 but just couldn't get on with it.
I live and ride in Cardiff, run a small mountain bike club called The Drunken Dragon Mountain Bike club,that I'm looking to expand. Don't have a website yet just a group set up on Yahoo and Facebook.
